Wood has always been present in boat construction since the first boats. It is an essential element in a boat.

Boat carpentry begins with the selection of wood. Different types of wood are used for different parts of the boat. For example, oak is often used for the structure of the boat because of its strength and durability, while teak is popular for the deck because of its water resistance and beauty.

Once the wood is selected, it is cut and shaped to fit the design of the boat. Each piece must adapt to ensure the safety of the boat.

Then the wooden pieces are assembled to form the structure of the boat. This involves the use of traditional techniques such as dowelling and mortising and tenon, as well as modern methods such as epoxy glue.

Finally, the finish is applied to protect the wood and improve its appearance. This may include sanding, dyeing, painting and varnishing.
